About Uptown

Uptown is a diverse neighborhood located north of Chicago's downtown. As one of Chicago's 77 community areas, uptown is officially defined boundaries. They are: Foster on the north, Lake Michigan on the east, Montrose (Ravenswood to Clark) and Irving Park (Clark to Lake Michigan) on the south, Ravenswood (Foster to Montrose) and Clark (Montrose to Irving Park) on the west. Boundaries of the three regions of the wealthy and Lake Michigan. To the north is Edgewater, Lincoln Square to the west, and south is Lake View.

Historical, cultural and commercial center of the uptown Broadway Square at the center with uptown. In 1900, the Northwestern Elevated Railroad constructed its terminal near Montrose and Broadway (now part of the CTA Red Line). This may be where the neighborhood can be your name, because it was the terminal of the railway line, which led north from the center of the city. Near the name may also come from its historic roots as a summer resort town of downtown residents. Time for all northbound trains uptown downtown closed. Here uptown became known as the entertainment destination. Aragon Ballroom, Riviera Theater, Theater uptown, and the Green Mill Jazz Club, all located a half block of Lawrence and Broadway. Upscale home is also one of Chicago most celebrated final resting spots, Graceland Cemetery.
